Dr. Michael C. Cheung

Dr. Michael C. Cheung is a South Florida native and is excited to be part of the medical community in the area he has called home since his childhood. He recognizes the delicate balance between the science of medicine and the art of patient care, and truly believes it is a privilege to be a surgeon and to take care of patients. Dr. Cheung is committed to building relationships with his patients based on trust and communication while keeping the patient’s health and well being his utmost priority.

Dr. Cheung pairs his credentials and excellent training with compassion and humility. He understands that changes to a person’s body due to aging, trauma, or cancer surgery can negatively affect one’s life both physically and emotionally. Dr. Cheung offers a full spectrum of cosmetic surgery as well as the most advanced techniques in reconstructive surgery following cancer resection or traumatic injury. With every patient, Dr. Cheung will work to combine his credentials, training, compassion, and humility to provide each patient extraordinary results.


Dr. Cheung completed his undergraduate education at Emory University, a top-ranked, private liberal arts institution in Atlanta, Georgia. He returned home to receive his medical degree from The University of Miami, Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. He then remained at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital for additional training, wherein he completed the five year general surgery training program and a two year research fellowship.

During his final year of residency, he was honored by being named Chief Resident. Dr. Cheung completed his training at the prestigious, Duke University Medical Center, where he completed three additional years training alongside the country’s leading plastics and reconstructive surgeons. While at Duke, Dr. Cheung was honored by being named Chief Resident during his final year in training.

Publications and Awards

Dr. Cheung has performed extensive clinical research and has authored over 50 manuscripts that have been published in peer-reviewed medical journals. Furthermore, he has written several textbook chapters and has spoken at national meetings about his research. Dr. Cheung has been recognized for his accomplishments at every level throughout his medical career. While at The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, he was awarded the John J. Foman Award for outstanding performance in surgery. As a surgical resident at The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, Dr. Cheung was the recipient Robert Zeppa Research Award. During his Research Fellowship, Dr. Cheung was the recipient of awards at the Copeland Research Competition and the South Florida Surgical Research Forum, both of which were awards issued by The American College of Surgeons. While at Duke University, Division of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Cheung was the recipient of The Georgiade Teaching Award as well as In-Service Award.

Dr. Christopher J. Low

Christopher Low MD is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. As co-founder of Cosmetic Reconstructive Surgery of South Florida, he has become one of the leading experts in cosmetic and breast reconstructive surgery. He was born and raised in New Jersey and attended New Jersey Medical School University of Medicine and Dentistry. He excelled throughout medical school, having graduated in the top 5% of his class and was elected to the prominent AOA honor society.

Dr. Low’s dedication to his profession is reflected in his outstanding care for his patients. Dr. Low genuinely cares for his patients from beginning to end and well into the recovery process to ensure all is well. Dr. Lows’ compassionate and transparent demeanor instills trust between him and his patients. His top priority is to establish an open communication between him and his patients is to ensure they understand the procedures and feel comfortable discussing any questions or concerns with him.


After medical school, he went on to complete five years of general surgery training at University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital where he as elected as Chief Resident during his final year. Dr. Low has a special interest in breast cancer reconstruction and after plastic surgery residency he elected to spend a year on staff at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) under the direction of internationally renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Luis O. Vasconez and microsurgical expert Dr. Jobe Fix. Dr. Low provides a broad range of breast cancer reconstruction including implant-based reconstruction as well highly specialized microvascular techniques such as DIEP, TRAM, SIEA, and TUG flaps.

Dr. Low and his team are devoted to reaching the highest standards of patient care and surgical expertise and look forward to meeting your medical and aesthetic needs.

He is also actively involved in medical volunteerism and has continued to make numerous surgical trips to Haiti with the non-for-profit organization Project Medishare. Recently, he traveled to Haiti where he performed the first documented breast reconstruction. Dr. Low is also has a special interest in treating breast cancer patients suffering from lymphedema. He has spent time in Paris working under the direction of Dr. Corinne Becker, the pioneer in vascularized lymph node transplants.
